William “Bill” Coe
Sep 4, 2017A graveside memorial service will be planned for a future date at Fentress Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, Fentress County, Tenn.He was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Byrdstown, Tenn., to Kenneth D. and Minnie Lou Elder Coe. He was the seventh of 11 children, Bill grew up in Byrdstown and was drafted and served as a medic in the U.S.?Army during the Korean War. He married Peggy Ann Patton in Byrdstown on May 4, 1959. Bill and Peggy owned and operated the Dixie Cafe on the square in Byrdstown for 20 years before selling it and moving with their three children to Cookeville in 1976. Bill and Peggy owned and managed multiple rental units for more than 30 years.Bill is survived by his wife, Peggy; children, Ken Coe, Becky (Wayne) Ginn of Huntsville, Ala.; and Beth Coe; three grandchildren, Meredith Ginn, of Iowa City, Iowa, Drew Ginn, of Dallas, Texas, and Abby Ginn of Birmingham, Ala.; his sister, Joyce (Richard) Huddleston of Muncie, Ind.; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Minnie Lou; and nine siblings, Gladys Coe Groce, Bob, Charles, Henry, Janis Coe Eaton, Kenneth, Jr, Earl Walden, Kay Coe Dyer, and Betty Coe Cooper.Bill had a passion for cooking and watching sports, especially the Atlantic Braves.
